Lifestyle Medicine has been shown to improve blood pressure, blood lipids, body mass index and even reverse coronary artery disease. The latest clinical guidelines for the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease and Treatment of Hypertension emphasize adherence to a healthy lifestyle as the first step. Our program is based on these guidelines and utilizes the six pillars of lifestyle medicine which are Nutrition, Physical Activity, Stress Management, Restorative Sleep, Social Connection and Avoidance of Risky Substances.
In our program we do a thorough review of your medical history followed by an evidence-based lifestyle habits assessment (90 minutes). We assess and calculate your ASCVD (Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease) risk and also check a complimentary HgA1C and lipid panel, if needed. We give you general lifestyle recommendations for blood pressure and cholesterol control as well as generate a personalized lifestyle plan focusing on nutrition and physical activity. Follow up is conducted by one-on-one video visits, biweekly for 3 months, to provide support and guidance to help you implement the lifestyle plan. We have an ongoing maintenance program, if desired, for after you complete the Cardiovascular Health Optimization Program.
Total Duration: 7 consultations over 14 weeks, with an option to continue with our Ongoing Maintenance Program.
